Biography: Courtney McLean Gekić is a pianist and teacher with studios in Peachtree City, GA, and Miami, FL. Courtney began studying the piano at the age of seven. Growing up in Miami, Fl, as a student of renowned piano teacher Peggy Neighbors Erwin, she performed for the first time with an orchestra at an early age as the Winner of the Greater Miami Youth Symphony Concerto Competition. Other past awards include Interlochen Arts Camp Concerto Competition Winner, Miami Music Teachers Association Merit Scholarship Winner, New World School of the Arts High School Most Outstanding Pianist Award, Rildia Bee O'Bryan Piano Scholarship from Interlochen Arts Camp (named for the mother of Van Cliburn), two-time Florida Federated Music Clubs Piano Solo Winner, and Florida State Music Teachers Association Concerto Competition Winner. Courtney was awarded a Rotary International Ambassadorial Scholarship to study Piano Performance at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama (now the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland) where she received a diploma from the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music. She also holds an undergraduate degree from Stetson University in Environmental Science and a Masters in Piano Performance from Florida International University. Courtney is a past Coral Gables Music Club scholarship recipient and currently serves as the Counselor of the Coral Gables Junior Music Club in Miami as well as the Counselor of the McLean Piano Studio Junior Club in Peachtree City. Her students have performed in local and state competitions, evaluations, masterclasses, and recitals. Courtney has taught piano privately for 20+ years.
