  • October 1 - Registration Deadline for GMTA Theory Exam through georgiamta.org - Exam will be conducted during Fall Festival on November 15.

  • CANCELLED Thursday, October 9 - Program: Dances in Musical Repertoire - Georgia Academy of Dance, Peachtree City - 10:00am - Our October program features Amy Ho from the North Dekalb MTA. Dance forms have been the inspiration of musical works for hundreds of years. Learning about dance enhances our understanding of the phrasing and structures of musical compositions. In this live demonstration, Amy will teach three dances: minuet, mazurka, and waltz, featuring the Minuet in G Major by J. S. Bach, Valse Op. 64 No. 2 by Chopin, and Mazurka Op. 68 No. 3 by Chopin. Amy has studied classical piano, ballet and jazz dance since she was a child. She majored in dance at Taipei National University of the Arts, Taiwan, and in piano performance at Tainan Woman’s Technology College. A passionate choreographer and dancer, she also practices Latin dance regularly.

  • Tuesday, February 3 - CFMTA/Newnan Notes Masterclass - Clinician: Dr. Chenny Gan - Fayette Friendship Community Church - 10:00am - Dr. Chenny Gan is the Director of Graduate Music Programs at Wesleyan College, as well as an active performer and educator whose work has taken her to over a dozen countries, including performances at Carnegie Hall. She has presented research for leading academic organizations and was named one of NerdScholar’s “40 Under 40” top young professors in the U.S.
